About Carla

At the age of 14, I knew I wanted to be an accountant. At the time, I did not really know what one did, but I loved working with numbers and I wanted to be a part of the business world. 

Now with over 25 years experience, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of office environments, some just like yours. My main role has been completing all accounting functions through financial statements, establishing and implementing accounting procedures, being the contact person for audits and tax returns, and training business owners to understand their financial position.  My passion for the accounting business continues to grow with my main mission to become your partner as you strive to succeed.

I started working in the accounting field in 1980 for various construction companies and continued my education as I raised a family.  I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Hartford in 2005 with a Master of Science degree in Accounting and Tax.  I have held positions that include Chief Construction Controller for the construction of the Hartford Convention Center and Marriott Hotel; Controller for Waterford Group, LLC the consultant for Mohegan Tribal Gaming Association (Mohegan Sun Casino), and consultant to Dabbs Development, LLC the owner’s developer for the Blue Back Square in West Hartford.

During this time, my main responsibilities included accounts payables & receivables, payroll, financials statements, quarterly taxes for several states, and working with the firms CPA during the year-end audit and tax return completion. Other responsibilities that complimented the accounting field included being the decision maker of business and health insurance programs, researching financing for major purchases, and saving companies thousands on insurance and sales tax audits.

I have had my own business for many years prior to forming Demers Accounting Services in 2004. I have been assisting small businesses to determine the best accounting solution that works for them.  Various industries include restaurants, non-profits, contractors, small retails stores, and consulting firms.

In addition, I am an Advanced Certified QuickBooks® ProAdvisor and collaborate with Intuit to get the best price and support available for my clients. I am also a Sleeter Group Certified QuickBooks® Consultant, an elite group of QuickBooks® professionals that increases my resources to find the best solution for unique business challenges.  I also have the ability to tap into a vast network of professionals that I have come to know over the years that can assist you outside of the accounting field.

I am constantly continuing my education through webinars and classes to ensure my clients are receiving the most recent information on industry changes.  I collaborate with a Certified Public Accountant to address accounting and tax questions outside of my expertise.
